OR else

Background

OR else was founded in 2008 by Mark van der Bij as a network organization for projects in public areas. From the very beginning he has supported a variety of landscape and regular architects with OR else. Since then, various independent integral design projects, for which content and process go hand-in-hand, have been started up, prepared and executed. OR else focuses not only on the conceptual aspects of an assignment, but on its complete implementation, from concept to the completed situation, and down to the finest detail. Perfecting an idea is the overriding objective.

In January 2012 Roosmarijn Ubink joined OR else and since then she and Mark have formed a two-person company, whereby project management is the overlapping area within the span of services provided. Roosmarijn brings expertise in the area of art and culture to OR else.

Following his education at Larenstein University, Mark worked for a number of leading landscape architects. After a traineeship at B+B landscape architects, Mark spent up till 2008 eight years as a project leader with Lodewijk Baljon, where he also was a member of the company’s management team.

Until 2010 Roosmarijn worked at Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum as a project leader for exhibitions, before that spending a few years as project and PR coordinator with art association Arti et Amicitiae. Alongside her day job she also carried out freelance assignments on a regular basis. In 2000 she graduated as an art historian in the University of Utrecht, with a specialism in arts, policy and management.
